[골프가이드 방제일 기자] 닉 팔도가 주최하고 라구나 랑 코, IJGA, R&A의 지원을 받는 아시아 그랜드 파이널이 오는 3월 20일부터 22일까지 베트남 다낭의 팔도 디자인 코스에서 개최된다.
아시아 투어와 아시아 태평양 골프 연맹이 주관하는 아시아 그랜드 파이널은 아시아 최고의 젊은 골프 선수들과 2018 유럽 그랜드 파이널 우승자들이 대회에 나선다. 결과는 세계아마추어골프랭킹(남녀)을 반영된다.
닉 팔도는 UAE 알 아인에서 열리는 2019년 유럽그랜드파이널에 출전할 연령대별 챔피언(남녀 3명, 여자 2명)을 초청한다. 또한 닉 팔도는 프로 투어에서 소년소녀 챔피언 전체도 출전할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.
지금까지와 마찬가지로 아시아 그랜드 파이널은 특별한 대회로, 경험 이상의 것이 될 것이다. 최고 수준에서 40년 이상 뛰며 6회나 메이저 챔피언을 차지한 닉 팔도의 조언과 경험을 선수들에게 전수할 뿐 아니라 다른 골프 전문가들도 참석해 전문적인 지원과 조언을 제공한다.
대회 방식은 토너먼트 형식으로 진행한다. 아시아 그랜드 파이널은 높은 평가를 받는 라구나 골프 랑 코에서 54홀 이상(컷 없이) 경기를 치르게 된다. 형식은 남자아이즈 언더, 남자아이즈 언더-18, 남자아이즈 언더-16, 여자아이즈 언더-21, 여자아이즈 언더-16 등 각 부문에서 우승자와 준우승자에게 트로피를 수여하며 팔도 시리즈 아시아 트로피는 나이와 성별에 상관없이 한 명의 챔피언에게 수여될 것이다.
한편 대회가 개최되는 라구나 랑 코 골프 클럽은 반얀트리 그룹이 개발하고 관리하는 중앙베트남의 세계적인 코스 자연 그대로의 해안선 및 베트남에서 가장 아름다운 골프 코스 중 한 곳으로 손꼽히고 있다.
Supported by Laguna L?ng Cô, the IJGA and The R&A, the Asia Grand Final will be hosted by Sir Nick and played on the Faldo Designed course in Da Nang, Vietnam on March 20-22, 2019.
Sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, the Asia Grand Final will bring together more than 90 of Asia’s leading young golfers, plus winners from the 2018 Europe Grand Final. Results will count towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking (boys and girls) and Sir Nick will invite the champion in each age-category (three boys, two girls to compete in the 2019 Europe Grand Final in Al Ain, UAE. Sir Nick will also arrange for the overall boy and girl champion to play in a professional Tour event.
As always, the Asia Grand Final will be more than a unique tournament experience. The six-time Major Champion will spend time with you in order to pass on his advice and experience from more than 40 years of playing at the highest level. Other experts will also be attending to offer you professional support and advice during the week.

Tournament format
The Asia Grand Final will be played over 54 holes (with no cut) on the highly-acclaimed Laguna Golf L?ng Cô. The format will be gross stroke-play with trophies awarded to the winner and runner-up in each of the following categories: Boys’ Under-21, Boys’ Under-18, Boys’ Under-16, Girls’ Under-21 and Girls’ Under-16. The Faldo Series Asia Trophy will be awarded to one overall champion, regardless of age or gender.
